Course Brief
This seminar targets mining professionals who would like to understand the fundamentals of mineral project valuations better. The seminar will help the participants understand the technical, financial, and economics of the mining industry. The seminar aims to review mining studies and their required inputs and technical outputs. The seminar will examine exploration results, mineral resources and mineral reserves, mine design and operational inputs (i.e. geotechnical, metallurgical, infrastructural designs, capital and operation cost estimates, ESG, market, financial analysis and sensitivities, and project management).
This seminar is interactive, with theory-based and practical tutorials exposing delegates to key areas related to exploration and mining project valuation. The seminar will provide delegates with a clear understanding of:
- Valuation procedures and processes in mineral / mining-related projects (e.g. SAMVAL)
- Supply and demand principles and price forecasting
- Investment considerations in mineral exploration / mining-related projects
- Valuation pitfalls and the cost of getting it wrong
- Financing options and considerations for a mineral exploration / mining-related project
- Processes involved in the feasibility studies of a new mineral project / mining-related project
- Royalty rates, and tax calculations (application of depreciation) in mineral/mining-related project
- Life of Mine planning in minerals/mining-related project
