- A
Workshop Brief
It is our pleasure to present out first workshop focused on the use of AI in geology, presented by our facilitator, Ashley Brown, who is based in Toronto, Canada.
With experience in consulting, corporate office work, exploration, and management, Ashley has a proven track record of adding value to all the operations he has worked for with extensive brownfields exploration, and two years of blue-sky exploration experience. Over 35 years of work experience in all.
With Ashley’s historical experience in 3D resource deposit modelling and geostatistics, he has now moved into AI-driven aspects of geology and considers himself an integral part of the AI-driven disruption. Ashley has written prompts for High-Level Reviews of Resource Estimates and has advanced this to mining and mining finance. Although the latter two topics are not his core skills, the use of LLMs gives incredible insight into these fields.
With knowledge of French, Afrikaans, and basic German, together with four years of exposure to Russian, his experience in AI, developed since 2022, is an additional language he has developed.
Over the years, Ashley has trained and mentored geologists in geostatistics, undertaken reviews of third-party resource estimates along with resource modelling, and advanced geostatistics. He is competent in the application of 3D implicit modelling in Leapfrog Geo and additionally has Datamine StudioRM, Geovia Surpac, Isatis and Isatis.neo experience as well as delivering lectures on resource estimation.
To give a perspective for this workshop, Ashley has completed studies in Data Analytics and generative AI for LLMs at MIT. These courses were based on Python and focused on ML and NNs. He has also completed a Cloud Computing studies using MS Azure focused on ML Operations.
The following will be addressed during this workshop:
